The public will have the opportunity to meet Spring ArtWalk Featured Artist Dan Holmes and view his work at the Museum of Ventura County at 89 S. California Street during the Spring ArtWalk Weekend on April 25 & 26, 2009.

“My images are reflections of those moments in time when light, form, and color fit. There is beauty in all aspects of life: landscapes, portraits, action, wildlife, and pure abstracts. There is a magical instant when those elements come together in the viewfinder, the shutter clicks, and the moment is captured.”

“I am realizing that I am a “Discovery” shooter. There is so much to explore and to see that I am constantly on the move. I find that I don’t spend a lot of time in the iconic spots. I’ll walk down stream, over the hill, or back behind the trees. I will drive up a jeep road at night, not completely sure where I am, pick a spot to sleep, and wake to whatever surprises me at first light. I can find myself in an uninspiring pine hollow – or on a mesa overlooking a fantastic series of canyons and cliffs – it is all good.”

Dan has traveled extensively and taken on a wide range of adventures. He has climbed, trekked, and photographed in Europe, South America, Africa, Asia, and the Western USA.

He has a unique ability to capture light, color, emotion, and tension in his images. He applies that ability in shooting landscapes, weddings, wildlife, travel, music, sports, and portraits.

His wedding work is a mixture of journalistic and traditional styles – he tells the story of the day, capturing moments and creating memories.

He is a multiple award winner; New Artist and Nature Photographer of the Year for the Channel Island Professional Photographers Association; is a staff photographer for VC Life & Style, and a contributing photographer to Cycling News.

He has had multiple showings and his work is displayed in private collections in California, Mexico, Chile, and South Africa.
